Closing the Loophole!

08 October 2019

8 October 2019: The NSPCC’s #CloseTheLoophole campaign did a great job in January highlighting the gap in the law that legally allowed people in some positions of power – for example sports coaches or youth group leaders – to get away with grooming 16 & 17 year olds. This is unacceptable. Although I look forward to the Government’s review of this law, I share the frustration that it has taken…

4 October 2019: Huge thanks to local residents from Beechcroft Drive and Greg Melly from the University of Surrey for meeting me today. Greg and the residents continue to work together to try and find a solution for the dangerous access problems for local people around Beechcroft Drive. A final huge thanks too to Guildford Spectrum for the much needed mug of tea!

SWR Debate

02 October 2019

2 October 2019: Problems with South Western Railway (SWR) are an ongoing concern for people in Guildford.  Today, Caroline Nokes, MP for Romsey, secured an adjournment debate on the issues of SWR. Normally in an adjournment debate, only the MP who has chaired it gets to speak. Thankfully, I was given some time to make a short speech on the problems people in Guildford face.

Ministers must listen on the Loan Charge!

01 October 2019

1 October 2019: I was at Treasury Oral Questions today. The Loan Charge is having a very real impact on my constituents.  It was so disappointing today that Ministers appear to be listening to the concerns of MPs from both sides of the House.  You can find a link to my question here: You can also find a full transcript of the debate at:
